So like... what the HELL is a Yazberry?
My name is Yaz, I'm a 21 year old college student currently finishing up my last semester in undergrad for digital marketing. This website is my own personal sandbox to showcase all of my different interests in exactly the way I want to! Although I'm still taking baby steps with my site, I'm working whenever I can to get it up and fleshed out a little bit more. :'). I know this site is a little cluttered and eccentric - it's intentional. I consider myself an eclectic maximalist, so I love filling my personal spaces with trinkets and tchotchkes, especially if they're ornate and old. I'm also huge into music - I have a radio show I do on sundays with my friends and I'm always at local DIY shows. I may link my last.fm or spotify here at some point, maybe when I get my music page up and running. If you wanna reach out for any reason (especially to send me new recs, or request an album of the week!) feel free to contact me @ yazberri03@gmail.com.
Album of The Week!
Welcome to my first EVER album of the week! This week's is "Complete Recordings 2003-2004", the first and only compilation album released by The Sea, The Sea. TS,TS is an emo/screamo band from Michigan, hailing all the way back to the early to mid 2000's. Their last.fm page is so old it has a link up to their (incredibly broken) myspace, lmfao. This album features two main vocalists - one male (Tom Jenkins), one female (Niki McUmber) - and it's an absolute hidden gem of scramz-y goodness. Some songs include only one vocalist, while others feature both. The standout song for this album is Walk Alone (split), which features both Tom and Niki. The guitar is super catchy, the voices work incredibly well together, and the buildup towards the bridge and final chorus is amazing. Regarding the album as a whole, I'm docking points for lyricism that doesn't really wow me and the fact that they released this and then absolutely nothing after this. Breaks my heart!! But honestly, it's just a great album in general. If you're looking for something niche, raw, and underrated, this would be my recommendation to you. Overall, 4 cats out of 5.
